Treatment Contraindications

​

  • Tattoo less than 6 months old

  • Immune system disorder

  • Hypertrophic scarring or keloid formation

  • Women who are pregnant, may be pregnant, or breastfeeding

  • Persons with unhealthy psychology

  • Persons taking aspirin or antioxidant

  • Abnormal blood coagulation

  • Light sensitive skin

  • Diabetes mellitus, skin cancer, psoriasis, eczema or dermatitis

  • Active infection or history of herpes simplex on the lips, face or mouth

  • Coagulation disorders

  • Patients with unrealistic expectations

  • Patients unwilling or unable to follow post treatment care instructions

  • Allergic to topical anesthetics, antibiotics or similar medications

  • Use of Accutane within previous 12 months

Pre-Care

  • Avoid asprin, Ibuprofen, or any other type of blood thinner for at least 1 week prior to your treatment. 

  • Apply SPF 30+ daily throughout your treatments.

  • 2 weeks prior to your appointment, avoid sun bathing, tanning beds, spray-tans, and self-tanners.

  • No use of antibiotics within 2 weeks of your appointment.

  • No use or Retinol or active ingredients within 7 days of your appointment.

  • Stop taking fish oil/ Omega3/ Vitamin E supplements, as it may prolong bleeding.

Post-Care

  • Keep the area clean, avoid heat (steam room, sauna, swimming, tanning bed) and sun exposure on the area for at least 10 days.

  • Avoid any activity that increases the body temperature for the restof the day. If any redness, bumps, or irritation persists, you may compress a cool towel on the treatment area to cool it off.

  • Apply aquaphor healing ointment and reapply when needed.

  • Apply sunscreen with SPF 30+ during the day after 2 weeks

  • Once the swelling/ redness/ tenderness is gone, it is recommended to work out and drink plenty of water. As it will help the body to break down and get rid of the tattoo pigment after laser.

  • The healing time between sessions is essential to allow your skin ti recover. Rushing the process may increase the risk of complications.

  • It is important to have realistic expectations regarding the outcome of laser removal. Complete removal may not always be possible, and some residual pigmentation may remain.

  • Do not pick, scratch or peel your tattoo to avoid any infections and/ or scarring

  • Moisturize the treated area with Vaseline or Aquaphor at least 3 times a day for 3-4 days or until micro-crusting has sloughed off.
